Javatris Action in Windows XP

Javatris on Mac OS X

Introduction

If you've never played Tetris before, you don't know what you're missing. Soon you will find yourself immersed in the world of Javatris and all that will matter is getting to the next level, beating your last high score and becoming more efficient at laying down those blocks just the right way.

Javatris even goes beyond regular Tetris, providing over half an hour of fun synthesized music to keep you going, ten gorgeous backgrounds that will take your breath away, and many options that surpass the competition, such as the ability to choose your starting rows, various cheating options and "Life Savers" to save you when there's no other way out.

Please be warned that Javatris is extremely addictive. Once you start, you may not be able to stop.

System Requirements

As the name suggests, Javatris was programmed entirely in Java and can thus run on any platform, for which a Java Virtual Machine is available.

Such platforms include, but are not limited to

  • Microsoft Windows
  • Macintosh
  • Linux
  • Solaris
  • FreeBSD
  • Unix

Check Sun's Java website to find out if your particular operating system is supported:
http://java.sun.com

You will also need a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) such as the Java Development Kit (JDK) or the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in order to run the game.

Chances are you already have one of the installed on your system. If not, visit http://java.sun.com to obtain your copy.

The Java Runtime Environment 1.3 for Microsoft Windows is included on this CD (and will automatically be installed if necessary), so if you use Windows, you don't have to download the JVM.

Javatris requires Java 1.3 or higher to run.

Java has severe limitations when it comes to speed, since it is an interpreted language, and not a compiled one.

Because of this we recommend a system at least as fast as the following:

  • Intel Pentium II 266 Mhz or higher
  • Capable of displaying 16000 colours (recommended)
  • Minimum 64 MB of Ram
