Hi Nancy,
Try opening the Device Manager (Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager) and click on the "Sound, Video and Game Controller" group of devices. If you see any exclamation marks on any of those devices, there could be a problem. You can try re-installing the device by deleting the device (right click on it and choose "Uninstall") and then asking Windows to try to re-detect the hardware by running the "Add Hardware" wizard which is found in the Control Panels.
