Would like to get some help in installing my hp deskjet 3820. I have a new laptop (windows xp) Don't have installation disk though???? Please help!!!!

My HP printer has been working for 4 years. Now, all of a sudden it won't print. Message says that I have no printer. I have tried to install the printer again with the cd and it does not work. thank you

Hi Tina,
To reinstall your HP DeskJet D1420, download the appropriate driver below depending on your operating system:
If you are using Windows XP, Windows 2000 or Windows Vista:
HP DeskJet D1420 Windows XP Printer Driver
So just download that driver by clicking on the link and then save it somewhere on your computer where you can find it like on your desktop. Then go there and double click on the file to start the installation process.

If you lost the disc for your HP Deskjet D4100 series printer, you can download the driver for it from our driver database (the driver is what was on your CD and it lets you use your printer). Just follow this link:

The printer works fine but I cannot install the disk that came with the printer.
I need to clean the print head and do not have the tool box.

It is very unfortunate that HP has decided to stop providing drivers for Windows 98 and Windows ME for all of their products. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a Windows ME driver for the HP Photosmart 1115 printer anywhere.

Hi Pat,
Although it's quite convenient to have the printer clean the print heads automatically on its own, it is still possible to clean them manually. HP recommends that you use distilled water and a lint-free material such as a cotton swab to clean the print head.
So basically, just remove the cartridge from the printer and moisten a cotton swab with some distilled water. Then gently wipe the copper contacts on the cartridge with the cotton swab. Repeat until there is no ink appearing on the cotton swab. Then place the cartridge back into the printer.
