Yes, as you can see in earlier posts, it can't burn in DAO (Disk At Once) mode.
You can try any softwares..., if the drive is not well recognized by Windows XP (because it is not designed for it), the drivers will not function properly.
I guess that no update will be released by manufacturer.

Sorry but this is not true. I had this drive burning disc at once for over two years. The only thing it would not do was write cd text.
For the life of me I can't figure out how I got it to do DAO, but I can't get it to do it again....

Ok, I badly expressed myself.
For me too, I could burn in DAO but many years ago. Some mounths after I installed Windows XP, I can't burn with this mode. I don't know exactly when this behavior happened.

Hi,
I haven't tried burning for awhile (if ever), but I am getting messages that there is no CD-RW in my LG CD-RW CED-8080B. I am using Roxio 7 on a rebuilt Dell Dimension 4100 with Windows XP Pro and Service Pack 2. Bought the hardware back in January 2001 from Dell.
I have tried what I have -- TDK 4x-12x High SPeed 700MB cd's.
Any ideas? I can write this in French if helpful!

I think the MS Media player 11 upgrade did something.
LG CD-RW CED-8120B is now not burning or playing DVD
I had installed XP +sp2 + media player9
I installed express burn and was able to burn
an ISO disk.
After I did the upgrade.
1) The burning feature stopped working.
2) It DETECTS a Blank CD but will not burn it.
3) The Choose drive section it is blank.
4) Choosing Properties/materials shows the
burner.
5) Media Player does not find it either.
I am going to search for a mediaplayer patch

The 4x-12x "High Speed" 700MB CD-RW discs will NOT work with the LG CD-RW 8080B drive because it is NOT designed to work with "high-speed" cdrw discs. That's a hardware limitation of the drive and can NOT be fixed with a firmware update.
You need to buy and use CDRW discs with lower speed like the Sony 1x-4x or Memorex 1x-4x speed CDRWs. Those I believe will work with the CED-8080B drive. |
