I have this printer and it has been discontinued. I have been scouring the Internet and i can't find the drivers. Also the lexmark site gives me a driver that Windows xp says is incompatible. So right now I think the lexmark x1185 is officially a paper weight

Copies of the printer drivers for the Lexmark 1185 all-in-one inkjet printer for Windows 2000, XP, Vista and Vista 64-bit Edition have been posted above. Please download the version that corresponds to the operating system you are running and install the printer by installing that driver.

Hi Lois,
This driver only includes the software necessary to print on the Lexmark X1185 all in one. If you want to scan, you may need to obtain additional software.

Hi Constance,
That driver for the Lexmark X1185 all in one, only allows you to print and scan. It does not provide optical character recognition (OCR) software. You could try contacting Lexmark to obtain the OCR software. Another alternative would be to purchase OCR software such as OmniPro.

The problem just arose recently. I was able to scan and make copies, but now when I scan there are is a huge area and several lines that show up as black. I have been told that it is a hardware problem, but it seems to have occured shortly after I was scanning and cropping documents. Is it fixable?? |

That does kind of sound like a hardware problem! Is your Lexmark X1185 printer/scanner still under warranty? If so, returning it to Lexmark to get it fixed is probably your best bet.

Thanks for the response, Eric. I'm afraid there is no warranty on it as I am the second owner. The date on the I.D. tag on the back is 2005/08, which I take to be August 2005. The printer still works off the P.C., it just doesn't scan/copy. I figure it be cheaper to replace than to repair. Does that sound about right? |

Hi George,
It's too bad about that warranty. It always seems like we're out of luck with warranties just when we actually need them.
Before giving up though, it might be worth installing the scanning drivers/software on another computer (if you have one) and then trying to scan from that computer to see if you get the same problem. If it works on that computer then your hardware is fully functional and it is a software issue. If you get the same problem, then it's most likely a hardware issue in which case I agree that replacing it (rather than repairing it) would be your best bet. You can get a scanner quite cheaply these days.

Obtaining and installation of the DRIVERS for the printer/scanner to work aren't the problem. OCR software is. If you have this printer AND the CD that came with it, there are drivers for OCR. but the lexmark site doesnt include the OCR in their driver download. |

Can anyone tell me where to find Lexmark OCR software? Like several other posters I encountered the message that declares the original driver disk contains an OCR application, but I can not find one there nor does the manual I downloaded (35 pages) contain any reference to OCR. |

i am scanning some photos for a project as we speak. I need to crop it as there is an unwanted object in the photo. There is a "crop" section which says use "arrow" but when I tred to move it won't badge. Please my scanner is on standby mode, waiting for an answer. Thank you so much for your help. |
