Cd writer installation
Hi, i recently purchased a yamaha Internal cd writer, to install in to my HP Pavillion. I followed all the directions step by step, but when i got the case and the faceplate off the front of the computer, the extra bay is not big enough for the writer to fit in to. There is a physical size limitation, the bay would be big enough, but there are steel "support" type things on the one side of the bay. they take up to much room, and the drive wont fit in at all. What is wrong?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

Hello, i have an iomega internal cd writer and i want to install it to my computer. I followed all the steps to install the cd writer but i found out that the IDE connection ports are already being used by a floppy drive, hard drive and CD-ROM drive and there`s no other vacant port to install the cd writer onto the mother board. What should i do?. Thanks.

I installed a CD writer in my computer. I know that at least the power cable is connected correctly because the drive opens and closes and I think the ribbon is correct also. When I turn on the computer though it does not recognize the burner. Is there a setting in the bios or somewhere else which I need to change? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Somebody else installed my cd reader and cd writer. I have 2 questions. They hooked my cd reader and cd writer up as master and slave. Does this cause a timing problem when copying cd's? Off hand, I don't know which is master or slave.
My speakers work with system generated sounds but my cd's do not make a sound. How do I find the sound board so I can hookup to it?

I have PC with power DVD (read only)and working well.Recently I purchased CD writer and fixed it. Selection is also made as master and slve for POwer DVD and CD writer respectively. But I am not able to install the CD writer set up programme.After completing certain installation Iam getting an error message and further installation is not taking place.Now I am not able to use the CD writer purchased.With fixing of CD writer my computer developed a new problem that whenever CD is put on either power DVD or newly purchased CD the computer is giving an error message and able to continue further after re start of the computer only.When computer is restarted with CD in the drive then I am able to read the CD.The operating system is windows 98/windows millenium. Please advise me to rectify the problem

i have just installed a sony cd-rw crx320ee on a HP pavilion t340 running windows xp windows sees it load driver and it powers up ok you put a cd in and you get the quick show of the cd plus disk but when you try to access it the drive shows as empty you cannot read or write to it

I have a computer using windows 98 with a cd writer but, I want to take the writer out and install it to another computer using windows professional. Can this be done? If so can you kindly send me the steps on how I can do this please.

I got my computer reformated. the person who did it forgot to set the pc to recgnize that it has a dvd/cd writer. Do you guys know any website where I can get a free download for it. it won't read any of my discs =(

I had a DVD writer that was not working, so I installed another cd writer. I have 2 cd writers and I unhooked the 1st one and then I have connected them both. I can get them to open their doors, but my computer does not reconize that they are installed. What do I have to do to correct this
