Ok one reason why the codes may not be working for you all is that you might be trying to register the game. If someone else has registered their game and lets you try to use their S/N everything will work fine until YOU try to register the game. Just stop trying to register the game and you should be all set... I've got 2 computers and tried several of the S/N's listed and they've all worked for me so far of what I've tried... |

| RE: the sims complete collection-unknown error, aborting setup
I seem to have the same problem as some of you. I had sims installed, but there were problems, so I uninstalled it. Now, when I try to reinstall it, it starts to load Installshield wizard, but then it says "Unknown error, aborting setup". I have Vista, and when I tried to install it first it asked me to tell the program to always run as admin. I think this might be part of the problem. Any ideas?
BTW... for people with this problem, try renaming InstallShield, InstallShieldOLD. (C/programfiles/commonfiles) It's worked for other people. |

Hi Lauren and others
I had the same problem with the 'unknown error, aborting setup' and I e-mailed EA support. They sent me back this answer, which worked for me, and I could install it (yay!)
Hope it helps
Becca
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.
I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with The Sims Complete Collection.
If the previous steps did not rectify the issue, this is likely due to corrupted game files. An improper installation or corruption of the game data may prevent the game from loading, as well as cause the game to crash at seemingly random, but very specific, points in the game. When such an occurrence happens, it's best to manually remove all of the components to make sure that next installation does not run into the same issues.
Before performing a manual uninstall of The Sims Complete Collection, you'll want to make a backup of your Windows Registry. Editing your computer's registry incorrectly can severely damage your operating system. It is recommended that a computer professional perform these steps. However, if you are confident that you can edit your registry successfully, please follow the instructions below carefully.
How to backup the registry:
- Click the Start button and choose Run.
- Type regedit in the text box provided and click OK.
- Click the File menu (or Registry if in Windows 98) and choose Export Registry File.
- Type backup for the file name and make sure All is selected for the Export range.
- Click the Save button and close the registry editor.
There are two parts to performing a manual uninstall; removing the game's registry keys and removing the game's files.
To remove the registry keys, perform the following steps carefully.
- Click the Start button and choose Run.
- Type regedit in the text box provided and click OK.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Software.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Maxis.
- Right-click once on the folder labeled The Sims; a menu will appear.
- Left-click the Delete option; this removes the folder. If the registry window takes you back to the top, scroll back down to where you were.
- Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the folders labeled The Sims Complete and The Sims Complete Collection.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Electronic Arts.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Maxis.
- Right-click once on the folder labeled The Sims Complete; a menu will appear.
- Left-click the Delete option; this removes the folder. If the registry window takes you back to the top, scroll back down to where you were.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Microsoft.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Windows.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Current Version.
- Left-click once on the plus sign next to the folder labeled Uninstall.
- Locate a folder labeled {F2527115-B8BF-4FDB-B5DA-5AADFB7C13E1}.
- Right-click once on this folder; a menu will appear.
- Left-click the Delete option; this removes the folder.
- Close the registry editor.
Your next step is to remove any of the game files. To do so, remove the folder called The Sims from the following location on your hard drive (assuming a default installation.)
- C:\Program Files\Maxis\
The Sims Complete Collection should now be completely removed from your computer.
Now you can manually install The Sims Complete Collection using the following steps:
- Insert the game disk into the drive.
- Close any autoplay screen that may appear.
- Open My Computer.
- Right-click on the CD-drive containing The Sims Complete Collection disk and choose Open.
- Click on Edit at the top of the window.
- Click on Select All.
- Click on Edit again.
- Click on Copy.
- Close the window.
- Right-click on your desktop and choose New and then Folder.
- Right-click on the New Folder on your desktop and choose Paste.
- The game files should now copy to the folder.
- Once copying is complete, remove all disks from any drives.
- Click on the Start button.
- Click Run.
- Click Browse in the Run window.
- Start from the Desktop and go into the New Folder.
- Open the Setup folder, and then the language folder that you want to install in.
- Example: the English folder.
- Highlight the file named _s327 and choose Open.
- This should take you back to the Run window.
- Go to the very end of the line of text and add a space and then -1.
- The end of the line should look like this: _s327.exe" -1
- Click OK and the installation should begin.

CMMD-E8HB-2PEP-HZ7P-HSTF is the code I used and it worked fine. Yes, it gets stuck on 95 but it will eventually install all. I got an error on disc 3 once and I just had to clean it. USE CAPITALS and DO NOT try to register. |

| RE: the sims complete collection-lost serial
for those having trouble re-installing the sims.. First make sure it is uninstalled from your HD.. Then put the game in your cd.. Exit autoplay when it comes up.. Click on my computer, then click browse cd... Next click on the folder named "eraser"... This will clean the sims from your registry, and allow you to re-install the game properly... Hope this helps.. It worked for me |

| RE: the sims complete collection-lost serial
It's probably because you are trying to register using someone elses key... You are not going to find an unregistered key on here.. So just play the game and don't try to register it... If u want to register, you are going to have to BUY a new game... NO WAY AROUND IT... |
