Just try turning off "auto play (autorun)" of CD player. "My Computer"/ CD ROM ...Properties/
"Auto Play"/ -Select an action to perform-
"Take no action"..."OK". After that push the
CD DOOR BUTTON slowly 30, 40 times. It will be
getting better. |

If there is no such a selection, try......
regedit\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDrom
... Autorun \ put 0 instead of 1 .
And
regedit\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer\
NoDriveTypeAutoRun. 181 (It means 0000 00b5)
instead of 144 (It means 0000 0091) . Seletion "Hexadecimal" .
It will make CD Door work better. |

the pin in the hole works, for those who have been complaining that it doesn't. After you push the pin in far enough, hold it there and use a knife or any tool to pull out the drive. |

i think the problem of not opening and closing the cd door is due to the dust. the door may have jammed.
i have the same problem and looking for the permanent solution.
if you have a disk inside the cd rom then the door will open normally with a single push of a button. and once the disk is opened. it can be opened or closed easily until you shutdown your computer. next time you open your computer and the same problem reappears.so you can place a cd inside the rom everytime if you want to open it easily.
other solution is to go to the icon of cd rom and click on "Eject". it will take some time but works. if not do it again and also try to push the eject button on the cd rom. i do the same.
if anyone have any better solution please mail me.

I have a 16x dvd rom andit was waorking fine before.but recently I fond the door coming out and going in automatically and that too several times.I cant play any cd or dvd at a length as thw door comes out every now and then,,Please help... |

The hole that you stick a pin in is the "Overdrive eject." I have an IBM Thinkpad 600 with a CD-ROM Which can only be ejected by using overdrive. It won't run! I have TOO HARD OF A TIME OPENING IT WITH LOTS OF FORCE!!! PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I've been having the same problem on my drive. If there is a CD in the drive, it opens and closes properly. If not, it takes 3-4 pushes on the eject button to open, sometimes it won't open at all. It started on my computer, now my wife's computer is doing the exact same thing. These are relatively new drives, less than 4 months old so I don't think it's a failed drive. Virus checks on the system show nothing.

My problem seemed to have been an ordinary physical jam.
The light would blink. If I'd press the big button it would actually load the CD not eject. If I'd click eject from the computer (within Windows Explorer) nothing would happen.
I tried that little button, and again the lights started going, computer gave me a prompt for what program to run to read the CD.
Finally took two paper clips one on each side of the CD tray. First couple times I tried to pull it open, it pushed out a little then went back in. Kept it up, finally got it open.
And now for the first time in ages, the big button also closes it. (Used to be I could open it with the button but had to give it a good shove to get it closed.) |

After using a paperclip in the small hole to open the tray, look inside. You'll see a gear wheel near where you stuck the clip. Take a Q-Tip with a drop of plastic safe light machine oil on it. Carefully, being sure not to get oil on the nearby belt, put a drop of oil on the gear teeth. Work the tray manually a few times. That should fix the problem. |

I had two CD Rom drives that failed. The paper clip thing worked for a while in the first one that failed. I got used to the grinding and crunching; just turned up the music a little louder. When the second drive failed, i could still use computer although it took a few minutes to boot up; sometimes several tries. Finally, i couldn't close either drive so i called Tiger and purchased a new CD Rom drive for $19.00. They screwed up on shipping it to me so i got the $7.000 S&H credited back. The new drive is awesome! Just like having a new computer again. As well, i added a little more memory and it works as good as the day i bought it 8 years ago. I can even play better games.

I've had the same problem with my CD-RW on my Dell Computer. I push the button to open the drawer and it makes noise and the drawer moves a little bit but it does not open.
What has worked for me is to insert the paper clip in the small hole and at the same time push the button and the CD-RW opens.
Sometimes it doesn't work the first time but it will the second or third time. Apparently the paper clip bypasses something and forces it to open. |

is that there are magnetic disk is used to
firm the cd in its postion while rotating it in high speed up to
10000 rpm
for a reason the magnetic disk loacated ubove the cd
get stronger
when trying to open the door
the magnetic disk hold the cd and refuse to relase it
although led falshes
my firend told me away of reducing the magetic ring(disk) strength
but i forgot it

There is apparently some abberant software that is holding the tray locked. I discovered that after about 20 seconds of being closed, the tray will not open with one press of the Eject button. However, if you press the button once (the tray will attempt to open), then again causing the light below the tray to flash, then again while the light is flashing, the tray will open. |

After more investigation and investigation I have decided that the problem is most likely with the drive itself and not external software. The tray normally locks when the laser moves closer to the disc to read it. Therefore, something is causing the drive to think that a disc is inserted. Any ideas? |

then the small spring in the rd com is streched out too much just try to get a small screwdriver in it carefully ofc then try to flip it open a bit so you can grab it between 2 fingers and pull it open slowly then it should close then you push eject and then it should work fine again let me know if it helped |

I have the same problem when using Toddler Keys.
This has a specific feature to lock drives for kids. I just didn't remember it, so it took me a while before I found the culprit.
When configurating it the right way my DVD player ejects normally.

Toddler Keys was the first program I downloaded onto my new laptop. Fast forward to me attempting to insert the disc for my printer and not being able to figure out why my gosh darnit disc tray won't open.

I have a desk top computer and my pc door for cds and dvds will open but it stays open and when i pust it to go in it will go in but comes back out right away. Ive tried everythuing i can think of to correct this so any help please??? |
