Since I upgraded to Windows XP Professional I am not able to play DVD's in Windows Media Player. Error message "No DVD Decoder installed". HP/Compaq informs me that I have to purchase DVD playback software from a 3rd party vendor. Do I really have to purchase more software or is there possibly a driver somewhere on the web? Can anyone help me with this problem? |

yes you need third party software casuse that dvd drive dosn't have the MPEG 2 decoder build into the hardware, you need a dvd program that will load the MPEG 2 driver on your computer via software. |

Yes, I have had to purchase DVD software in the end in order to play DVD's through my PC on Windows XP Pro. I suppose it is all in the name of supporting the industry!

I went on the web and downloaded a copy via rapid share of power DVD and my issue has been solved ever since give it a look and try it out!! |
