I have LG CD-RW CED-8080B drive and when I try to burn a CD, the message "hardware Error" appears.
Maybe I need a driver or something else.
I've already tried many drivers.
I'm running on Win XP Home and on a dell 1ghz.

(Alex u can try this too)
is ur drive ejecting the cd and normally?
eitherway, just check the cables brom within the case, make sure ur PC is turned off while you unscrew the screws of the case and touch the cables... (remove them and put them back)...
if it doesn't work try the following...
A similar question has already been discussed on the forum. The relevant thread is: CD-RW Has disappeared from XP.
Please consult it for further information and to see if it applies to your particular situation.
To load the registery do the following : Start---> Run and type: regedit

I have a burner that is, somehow, deactivated. The computer recognizes that it's there, but when I try to use it, nothing happens. It used to run fine.
Anyone know what I would need to do to turn it back on again?

I installed Windows XP Home Edition and now, when I try to burn a CD, I get the message-" there is no blank CD in Drive. Insert CD and try again." this happens even though there is a new blank CD in the machine. |

My OS is XP. The LG CD-RW CED-8080B able to read but doesnt write. I have tried many softwares to burn a CD by the LG CD-RW CED-8080B, still doesnt work. The error msg says something about ATPI or something like that. |

I have a problem when I burn CD-RW in DAO (Disc At Once) mode: the burning program (Nero) shows me a message like "Invalid field in the command".
When I burn in TAO (Track At Once) mode, it works perfectly.
Does somebody has got this problem? |

My CDRW LG CED-8080B is not working. It says that there is not a disk in the drive. I have taken out all the wires in the back and put them back in and nothing is working. Worse, the device manager and my computer seem to think that there is not a problem. This CDRW came with my dell pc several years ago and it totally bums me out, I can't run audio cd's or programs. HELP!!! |

I also have a LG CD-RW CED-8080B. It is inside a Dell GX-100. I have windows 98. According to my system, it says the CD-RW is a "read only" drive. It also states it is a CD ROM. Not a recordable drive. I need a driver for CD-RW. Where do I get one? |

Hi, it seems i'm not the only one. My problem is that my LG CD-RW CED 8080B is not working in my windows media player or real player but it is working in my cd player that is in programs/accessories/entertainment/cd player. I have a Dell optiplex gx110 and it was working fine, then one day I downloaded winfixer and this may have caused the problem. When i go to the winplayer options/tools/device adn click audio player nothing happens. Please help. |

After having formated HDD and installed a fresh Windows XP, my LG CD-RW CED 8080B, firmware 1.08, works in TAO and DAO modes, but crashes in DAO/96 mode ("invalid field in command" is returned by Nero 7). |

I have had intermittent results. Sometimes the LG CD-RW 8080B works and other times it fails to complete the recording. I received an error message that the driver info for the system is in need of updating. I was running Windows 98, and then Windows ME and it worked wonderfully. Now I am running Windows XP Home Edition (SP/2) and it just doesn't cut it without trouble. I have been searching for update driver all over the place but can't find where one is? Is this possibly going to cure my frustration and near anger at this point??? |

Mon matériel : DELL Dimension 4100. Windows XP Lecteur LG CD-RW CED-8080B.
Plusieurs tentatives : désinstallation, restauration système. Rien ne change.

When copying to a cd using Roxio - getting Seek, Synch, ATIP or Mechanical Positioning Error-Hardware Error. Also not able to format. To resolve this problem with the CD-rom you don't need a driver visit the following microsoft direction and follow the instructions.
Remember that you need some registry knowledge to do that.

Please check if you have a yellow exclamation point in your Devices Manager next to your drive. If you are in this case, click on this device and select Delete in his context menu. Then click on toolbar icon Search for Devices Update (may have a different label since I use a French version).
You can try to shut down your computer, unplug your drive and boot up your PC. Windows will automatically delete your drive in the Device Manager.
Then, shutdown, plug your drive and boot your PC. Windows may completely reinstall the drivers needed for this drive.
You can also reinstall Windows XP by chosing Install, and Repair in the Installation Wizard of Windows XP.
I have a LG CD-RW CED-8080B with Windows XP SP2 and I have no problems.
PS: keep in mind that now, new CD-RW are made for High-Speed Drives (16x) so yout drive can't burn it.
@ Lila : this drive can't read/burn DVD-R so it can't read information stored in it!

I have just done a reformat ot XP pro sp2 and My ced 8080B will now no longer burn disck at once.
I have tried both firmwares (1.06 and 1.08) as well as updating/installing ASPI forceware just in case. I was originally using nero 5, with only the occaisional hiccup, but I have since tried version 5,6,and 7 with no luck.
Has anyone got any further advice (already tried the uninstall/re-install trick) or know if there is actiually a LG driver for this or is this a known issue/conflict with newer versions of nero.

Yes, as you can see in earlier posts, it can't burn in DAO (Disk At Once) mode.
You can try any softwares..., if the drive is not well recognized by Windows XP (because it is not designed for it), the drivers will not function properly.
I guess that no update will be released by manufacturer. |

Sorry but this is not true. I had this drive burning disc at once for over two years. The only thing it would not do was write cd text.
For the life of me I can't figure out how I got it to do DAO, but I can't get it to do it again.... |
