turn off write protection

Every time I insert a CD in my IDE-CDR-RW-8x4x32 Standard CD Rom Drive and try to copy photos to the CD I get the message to Turn Off Copy Protection. How do I do this? I am running Windows XP Home Edition in a Gateway desktop. Thank you.

RE: turn off write protection

I tried the sbove, but also got stuck when it came to "storage device policies. Is there a way around it? Also, what causes this to happen randomlly? I have several memory cards that I can't delete files from and its anoying because it just takes up space that i could be addind media to. The device just gets copy protected by itself, without the switch being in the lock position

RE: turn off write protection

Hi,

Guys....

I bought a Kingstone USB Pen Drive 32 GB yesterday only. I bought that after testing it properly, at that time the files are getting copied and with 32 GB of memory. But today when I tried to copy a folder of 10 GB to the drive, the system stopped responding with an error: "Windows was unable to save all the data for the file H:. The Data has been lost. This error may be caused by the failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere." and after that the USB Pen drive is not getting accessed and giving the same error whenever plugged in. I tried to format it with HP USB Disk Storage Format tool, V2.1.8 but it is giving an error "Device media is Write protected". Kindly suggest as I am also not finding the option (StorageDevicePolicies) as mentioned by Professor. Please suggest...

RE: turn off write protection

I decided to wikipedia search it.

"On the Mini SD adapter, there is a lock tap you push down usually when you put your mini SD card in to it, then into the USB adapter. To turn off the write protection on your mini SD, simply do not lock your mini SD in its adapter."

My flash drive had a little tab on the side that looks kinda like something to lock your MP3 player. It was on lock, I switched it to unlock and everything is working fine. :)
