THE ANSWER

Hello...
I did find out how... you actually don't have to pay for the drivers. They sell the drivers on a cd for people who don't have internet access.
Here's how I did it,
when I tried to install it, setup told me that It could not find my cd-writer and asked me if I wanted to install anyway. I agreed and installed it and when it was done I restarted my computer.
I then went to: http://roxio.com/en/support/roxio_support/ecdc/ecdc_plat_51dl_t2.jhtml
and installed the upgrade.. IT WORKED!!!!! the only bad thing is that it will get rid of your "Take Two" but that was made for Windows 95 anyway.
Well I hope this helps =).

THE ANSWER - P.S.

The above message pertains to Windows XP Home/Professional. I have a 9100i and diden't need the hp drivers after the xp upgrade. The Hp cd-writer drivers have nothing to do with the installation problem with Roxio Easy Cd Creator 5 /platinum.
If you are using windows 98 and are needing the drivers for you 9100i.. mabe I can arrange something.

Good Luck!!!

Help

Hope you can help me with my problem as it is driving me nuts. I bought the HP 8200e a few years ago whilst living in England (I now live in Australia). At first, it seemed to work just fine however I have found that I have been having sporadic problems with it over the last couple of years. The problem occurs when I try to write an audio CD from wav files on the hard drive using Easy CD Creator.
Usually, I drag and drop the files I want to burn and select "Create CD" from the File Menu, having already inserted a blank CD, and configure as I want it. However, upon beginning writing, the program comes up with the usual "Writing TOC" message before quickly closing and informing me the CD has been written successfully. Of course, it has not. When I try to eject the CD, I now find that the drive seems to be locked. Whenever I push the eject button, I get a red light. Upon entering the Direct CD application to attempt to eject the disc this way, it tells me the "Device is not ready". Rebooting does not help and the only way to get the drive to open or be accessible s to pull out and re-insert the power cord.
In addition, the computer has recently displayed problems in booting when the CD Writer is not plugged in. It will display a "Windows Protection Error" screen upon booting and will only function normally when the CD Writer is plugged into the USB port.
I am using the software and drivers that came with the Writer when I purchased it originally. The only other anomally I have recognised is the computer automatically detects two HP Mass Storage Devices (?) in the Device Manager (one always has a exclamation mark next to it). When I delete one, the computer simply re-installs it on boot-up. There is also a Wave Device for Modem which gets continually detected, but I assume this to be irrelevant.
Can anyone help me as this is starting to lay waste to all my blank CD-Rs and is costing me hair.

8200e driving me crazy!!!!

This friend of mine was leaving the country, adn gave me his HP CD Writer (8200e) as a gift. I tried installing it into the computer but then I realised he didn't give me any CDs/Floppy with the machine.... I've downloaded the DLA and RecordNow software from HP's site but it still doesn't work -- every time i try to write a disk it's unsucessful. When I installed the USB driver to the computer it asked me for a CD labelled 'Software Disc 1'...I guess that must have been the CD that I need. Can anyone help????? Where can I get hold of a copy??????

thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!

help me please

i have a computer with two hard drives connected to the primary IDE controller they are set as master and slave and on the second IDE controller i have a DVD drive and a CD ROM also set as master and slave how can i fit a CD writerto my computer
Eric Georgieff on January 2, 2003
THE ANSWER - P.S.

Steven Corse,

Since the vast majority of conventional computers only support up to four IDE devices (using 2 IDE controllers) you will have to remove one device as you have reached the maximum for your system. I suggest you remove your CD-Rom drive since your CD-Writer can act as a superior CD-Rom drive capable of reading both conventional CDs and CD rewritable discs.

If you wish to keep all of the drives you currently own, and you still have at least one 5.25 inch wide drive bay remaining in your system's case, it may be possible to add an extra IDE device by installing a PCI IDE controller card.

HP 8200e & Windows XP

Hello...:)

I received an HP Cd-writer 8200 for my birthday a few years ago and it worked well with the computer I had. I recently purchased a new computer and went to download the installation floppy to install the CD writer on my new computer (I had forgotten the installation was a floppy disk). My new Dell computer has no floppy drive. Is there a website where you can download the installation?

Thanks! :)

Roberto on August 23, 2005
THE ANSWER - P.S.

For all the folks not having the hp drivers; just visit www.hp.com. Some are in there but some are not. In that case you just can look them up in driversguide.com or cdrom-drivers.com. Now the real problem is putting some drives to work with Windows 2000 pro. Thats my case. I have a 8220e external cd-writer and this drive just wont install but as a normal drive, given that Win2k kicks the original drivers out and from the boot assigns generic drivers like cdrom.sys, thereby handling the unit just like another cdrom reader. If someone knows a way around this issue itd have to be a winner, because people from hp just dont get the right answer. Maybe its the Service Pack 4, or maybe I have to do a clean install for the Win2k because I installed it just over Win98; but everything looked so right before this issue that I want to resist the idea of formatting. Any Ideas?
