Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

what is error 1203 on the lexmark x4270 multifunction printer?
Eric on July 24, 2008
RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

Hi Carolyn,

Error 1203 on a Lexmark printer indicates that the printer cartridge has a short circuit. Lexmark recommends that you resolve the issue as follows:

1. Press Power to turn your All-In-One off.
2. Unplug your All-In-One from the wall outlet.
3. Plug in your All-In-One.
4. Reinstall the cartridges.

If this does not resolve the problem, replace your cartridges to fix the problem.

Eric.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

We were unpluged the printer, removed the cartridges and reinstalled the cartriages, but the problem is not solved. Then we have change the cartridge and installed new cartridge, but till the printer shows Error 1203. Till the problem is not solved.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

Hi,
I had the same problem.
I had only changed the black ink cartridge(keeping my old empty color ink cartridge in place).
From some reason as soon as i did it, i had got the error#1203.
I had notice that the problem is in the color ink cartridge (and not on the new black ink cartridge).
I had just put away the color ink cartridge and continue working with only the black ink cartridge.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

I too have the same problem with my Lexmark P4350. I tried all the baove without any results. Once in a way I am able to print just one page and the error message comes back. Only thing I have not tried is replacing with a new cartridge

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

Hi,
I have the same error and will do the replacement of the black cartridge. My problem however is that I do need to print in colour as well. Taking out the coloured one will not solve my problem.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

Solution:
I use the Kleenex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again.
The refill ink work very well if you let it sit 24 hrs. Then before you print anything, you should run aligned the cartridges a couple times then run clean cartridge a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of Kleenex on those holder contact panel.

Try and see if it's work for you. Good luck......

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer 5470

I had the same issue getting the #1203 error message. I had just replaced the black ink cartridge tried the Kleenex thing, but it didn't work either. The old one was working just fine except it was out of ink.

Solution:
I went back to the store where I purchased the black ink cartridge, let them know it wasn't working. They gave me a new one and I just put it in my printer and the error message has gone away. Everything is printing just fine.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

try the solutions listed in the thread and if those do not work then take the cartridge back to the store and ask for a new one, also, you should send lexmark an email or phone their customer service number and let them know about the issue.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

I had the same Error 1203 issue with my Lexmark X5320 printer last night. My color ink cartridge was empty and would not print. When I put in a new color ink cartridge, I got the Error 1203 message. We bought a new color ink cartridge and the printer worked just fine. I guess there was a problem with the color ink cartridge we were trying to use.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

I have that error #1203 message also, but why doesn't the manufacturer offer a solution for this problem. Is it because the x5410 is old and they just won't bother with you. Do they expect us to buy another lexmark. They should call themselves " Hexmark ". Am I mad.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

I also had the same problem It must be in the manufacturing of the color cartridge because I took out the color one and installed a new black one and the black works fine.

I powered off, disconnected from PC, powered on, re-installed black
cartridge. I had not used color in a long time and it was almost over
too. Taking the color cartridge out removed the error.

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

I have a Lexmark X5495 and got the Error 1203 message. The black cartridge is a re-manufactured one and the color is an oem - could this be the problem? I have replaced the black cartridge, powered the machine off and on three times and still same message. This is the first time this has happened and I have been using the same cartridges (color is oem and black reman)

RE: Error 1203 on Lexmark Printer

This is teh 2nd lexmark printer I have had with this issue. I tried to clean the contact pads and replace the ink. Nothing works... This company is a piece of garbage and purposely make this error show up and make it unresolvable to you buy their new products.

Garbage printer. Garbage company.
