Hi Fran,
If you lost the install disk for your HP Photosmart 7350 printer, you can download a replacement copy of the setup files that were on the CD that came with the printer from our driver database. Just go here:
HP Photosmart 7350 Printer Driver
If you are using Windows Vista, there is a workaround available to get it working. Just let me know if you're using Windows Vista.

Hi Dennis,
To install your HP Photosmart 7350 printer on Windows Vista, follow these steps:
1) If your printer is connected to your computer, disconnect it by disconnecting the USB cable from the back of the computer.
2) Go Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sounds
3) Then click on "Printers"
4) Click "Add a Printer"
5) Click on "Add a Local Printer"
6) Check off the "Use an Existing Port" check box
7) In the drop down list, select "LPT1: (Printer Port)" as your existing port.
8) Click the Next button
9) Under "Manufacturer", select "HP"
10) Under "Printers" choose "Deskjet 5550"
11) Click the Next button
12) In the "Printer Name" text box, type "Photosmart 7350" (without the double quotes)
13) Click the next button
14) You should get a message saying that the printer was successfully added. At this point, you can reconnect your printer to your computer by plugging the USB cable back into the port on your computer.
15) A "Found New Hardware" box should show up. Click on the "Cancel" button to close the box. If more than one box shows up, click Cancel on all of them.
16) Go back to the printers folder. If you closed it, you can get back to it by going Start > Control Panel > Hardware & Sounds > Printers
17) Right click on the Photosmart 7350 printer icon and select "Properties" from the context menu that appears.
18) Select the "Ports" tab.
19) Change the port from "LPT1" to "DOT4"
20) Click the "Apply" button.
That should be all there is to getting your HP Photosmart 7350 printer to work on Windows Vista. You should probably print a test page just to make sure everything is working properly.

I followed all of these steps except that on step 19 the "DOT4" port does not show up on my list. I have tried selecting all of the others but after doing so and attempting to then print something, I get the error msg stating "error-sent to printer" or "error-printing". Is there some way to create the DOT4 port? What should I try next? Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Merrin,
From what I can gather, it seems that DOT4 is a port that does not come with Windows Vista and needs to be added by the installation of an HP driver. It is a protocol for communicating with multifunction devices over USB and it is used by some devices such as some HP Photosmart printers.
Could you try downloading this driver file that HP provides:
HP_Vista_SF_Ph1.exe
Then install that driver by double clicking on it once it is done downloading.
Then once you have installed that, go back to step 16 above and continue through to step 19. Hopefully DOT4 will now be in your list of ports.
Let me know if it works so that I can update the instuctions!

Hi Eric,
Unfortunately this did not work. I downloaded the driver file and installed it, but after the first installation it gave me an error msg stating it may not have installed properly > reinstall using recommended settings > over write > yes to all. All three files stated they were ready to use and had a green check mark, but back to step 19, DOT4 is still not on the list. Tried rebooting, deleted the first printer setup and reinstalled using same directions but still no luck. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

After browsing msg board after msg board I came across the following...
"I was having a similar problem, trying to print from Vista 32 to XP shared printer and did a Google search on the problem and found the following. Do this on the Vista machine;
"I had the same problem. I found a solution. Logically it makes no sense to me, but it worked so...
Go to Control Panel. Choose printer. Then choose Add Printer.
ChooseAdd a local printer. Click on Create a new port. The default in the drop down box is Local Port. Do not change that. Click Next.
A dialogue box will appear asking for you to enter a port name. Type in the \\computer name\printer name ie. My computer's name is basement and the printer name is EpsonSty so I typed in \\basement\epsonsty"
Maybe it will work for you."
Well I'll be damned if this didn't fix the problem!!! I never would have thought! Just wanted to let you know, and thanks for all your help!

So your printer was actually attached to a Windows XP machine and you were trying to print from your Windows Vista machine over the network? I had been under the impression that your printer was directly connected to your Windows Vista machine with a USB cable.

I went through the steps to get it to work with the new driver, it worked. Well now my problem is I disconnected my laptop from the printer so i could go into another room, then I finished my report, came back to print and It will not print anymore :( error every time.
Help? I've already tried reinstalling the printer, and that doesn't work. I tried the \\computer name\printer name idea, that didn't work. Please help.

I have a wireless network in my home. My daughter just purchased an ASUS laptop with Vista. All of my other operating systems are XP. We started to set up her laptop to access the shared printer, but her laptop keeps saying the printer is lacking a Vista driver. Do you have a link or solution to this problem?

I can only find the disc for Macintosh and I have Windows Vista. I tried
downloading the driver software already, but it wants me to register and
pay for it. Is there not any free software? There is an alpha-numeric
number on the front of my Mac disc and am not sure if that is my product
