I had used the method above to install on Vista. But on WIN7 the Deskjet 3500 drivers arent present. |

You are the man! I spent at least 20 hrs downloading different software patches and nothing worked until your directions.

To all others:
After Eric's step#15, if a " Found new hardware" message does not come up, it is not a big deal.
However, make sure that you do the step# 18-22 because default printer is LPT1 and you need to change it to "USB".

Edit to step 12:
If you don't see "Deskjet 3500" in the list, click 'Windows Update' below the window. Now, if you see "Deskjet 3600", use it instead.
It works for Windows 7 too. |

Wow, it takes a tech genuis to come out this simple solution. Thak you! Does it also work for any other old or new printers for which I want to hook them up to vista? If yes, your solution saves a lot of driver installtion hassles. |

Dear Eric thanks a lot for your valuable information. I follow your advices step by step. My problem is that I don't see "Deskjet 3500" in the list, click 'Windows Update' below the window but it does not work and I cannot see "Deskjet 3600" to use it instead, as it is reccomended above.
Do you have any idea what else I can do?
