JVC DVD Player Plays Only in Black and White

I have a JVC dvd digital theater system, what would cause the dvd player to suddenly only play in black and white?

Hi Tom,

It could be that your DVD player is not configured properly for the type of connection your are using. Try the following:

While 'DVD' is selected as the source and before playback

1) Press and hold SCAN MODE for 2 seconds.
The current setting appears on the display window.

2) Press Cursor Left/Right to select the desired
mode.
RGB: Select when your TV accommodates the interlaced RGB/composite video signal.
Y/C: Select when your TV accommodates the interlaced S-video signal.
You can get better picture quality in the order -"RGB" > "Y/C" > Composite.

3) Press ENTER while the selected mode
is shown on the display window.

RGB/composite video signal is when you're using 3 cables to connect your DVD player to your television (2 for audio and 1 for video. Usually the connectors are white, red and yellow). S-Video would be if you're using a single cable to hook up the DVD player to your television (this cable has multiple pins in at the end of it where it connects to the television).

You could also try unpluging your JVC DVD player for a few minutes and then plugging it back in.

Let me know if this works for you or if you find a different solution that works.

Eric.
