I just recieved my first computer and went to play some music on it and discovered that i hv no sound, but i do have a sound card on my motherboard. It came with the motherboard the reason why I got it and now i cnt hear anything........PLEASE HELP...REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HEAR MUSIC FROM MY COMP......thx in advance....lol |

First of all go to control panel in My Computer, then go to Sounds and Audio Devices! Then go to the tab labeled audio and where it says sound playback click volume and make sure you volume control is not muted. If it still doesn't play music make sure the plug from your speakers is plugged into the green plug in the back of your computer! Also make sure it is plugged into the wall, if it uses electricity from an outlet! |

Something may have corrupted the driver on your sound card so you may want to go to Control Panel, System, then find Device Mananger. When you find it check if there are any yellow question marks anywhere (particularly the sound) the yellow question means the driver is gone, messed up, or outdated. Ttry to find a new driver on the net or you can try buying a new sound card! |

Nikkie: You may have deleted your sound file. I have SoundMAX on my computer. When you bought your computer you were given tons of CDs. One of them has the sound file on the CD (I have a DELL) install it again. I did that once. I just installed my sound again.
Angie: Is it only CD's you can't hear on your computer? Give some more information on your problem. |

The onboard sound for my computer quit working, so I installed a Yamaha Legacy sound card. I had sound briefly when I first installed it, but it skipped around. It was suggested that I reinstall the drivers. Now that my drivers have been updated, I have no sound. I am running XP and have set the Hardware Acceleration on all settings and still do not have sound. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! |

try these things..
1. check speaker cable is connected to the sound out socket of your pc.
2. try re installing sound card drivers.
3. check for irq conflicts on your pc.
