Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

I have a Koss KD260-2 DVD player. In the last 48 hours it has decided to show me the message "dealer lock on" and will not eject the disc which remains in the player. Disc is "Constantine" from Blockbuster and continues to play OK.
This first happened last night and I found the answer on the net - press DVD stop button whilst holding the remote control Power button. This worked OK last night but alas no more.
Are Koss machines just "junk" as most reviews suggest?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in anticipation.

first turn off the dvd player
take out all the screw to remove the case then you will see where the disc is hel in the caseing in the middle with a silver cover saying caution lazer radiation etc pressthe clips and lift off the metal then change the dvd and put back the cover and there you go

its really annoying
but not as bad as the no disc error i keep getting :(

RE: Koss DVD player - won't power on

I have a Koss KS2503. When I hit the power botton to turn on thr DVD player, there is a quick message that shows in the viewer. It's "msg 04". As soon as this shows, the DVD player turns off. Does anyone know what this is?

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

I think this will help you with the issue your having.

My player won't eject the disc and displays "Dealer Lock On". Otherwise it plays fine.

The dealer lock feature was intended to prevent theft of discs when on display at the retail location. To shut it off, you press and hold the "stop" button on the front panel of the player. While holding that, simultaneously press the "power" button on the remote control. You can release both buttons now. A message will say "dealer lock off" and now you can eject the disc.

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

When I tried the "stop" button on the front and held the "power" button on the remote, nothing happened. I had to have the player on and then I pushed the eject button to get the "dealer lock on" message. Then I pushed the front "stop" button and the "power" button on the remote and got the "dealer lock off" message. It has worked fine ever since!!!
Thanks for the help

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

My dvd player is messing up randomly all the time- sometimes it won't play the dvd, or the eject button won't work, or other buttons don't seem to work except the power button. But then other times, when certain problems are gone, anothers show up. Is it possible that this is happening because of the power going out a few days ago? I don't know how to fix this, please help.

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

My dads did the same thing as roger bell's and my dad being a repair man told me the power supply board is fried. So me being the internet junky I am he sent me looking for one on the net. Low and behold the only way to fix this problem is to A)Send it back to them, they will charge $120 and they will send you a new one. B)Like me try to find a replacement board. or C)Just give up and never in your entire life buy another koss so long as you live.

(Third message from top of page.)

I followed his directions exactly and the "Dealer Lock On" message finally went out as well as the little lock icon. Hoping it lasts more than a day.

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

I had the same "MSG 4" issue, i guess it was cuz i also had quite a bit of weight on top of the unit, but i useda just give it a few good whacks and it would open. However just the other day my wonderful ks2503 started freaking out. I have my computer hooked up to my AV 2 and for some reason it turns on, plays my music at the normal level, then gets reeeeally loud for a second, then i hear a buzzing through all the speakers and the screen just goes black.

I have had nothing but problems with this unit since i got it. I will never get another Koss anything, but its what i have.. Any help would be appreciated.

My Koss KS4101 displays a NO DISC error after I put in any type of disc. It will not play at all. Any suggestions?

I can still take out the CD/DVD just fine. A CD started to skip today and now nothing will play, just the NO DISC error message.

I have a Koss KS2503 as well. My fuse blew last night and I need to find the number of amps. The fuse shows F4AL/250V. What does the F4AL stand for?

Again I need to find the number of amps this system has.

RE: Koss DVD player - No picture

I have a Koss KS2503 and have watched a total of 3 DVD's on it. I can not get a picture on it no matter how it is set up. I have taken it in and no one will work on it. It was nice when it worked but it just doesn't work often. Any ideas? Cords have been checked on other units so they are fine.

RE: Koss DVD player - MSG04

We keep getting the MSG04 display and can't seem to figure out what is wrong. I saw several references above but no clear solutions. Does anyone know how to work through this problem so we can use the player again - or is this a "throw it away and get another unit" issue?

Thanks

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

MSG01 I TRIED THE FOLLOWING STEPS. 1. ELECTRICAL RESET, UNPLUG FOR ABOUT 2 MIN. 2. POWER UP, HOLD STOP AND POWER OFF BUTTON FROM REMOTE IN THAT ORDER. STILL NO LUCK. I DID BREAK THE CASING (IT IS WELL OUT OF WARRANTY, SO NO FACTOR THERE.) STILL NO LUCK ON GETING IT TO WORK AGAIN BUT AT LEAST I DID GET MY "BEHIND ENEMY LINES" DVD OUT. I AM THINKING IT IS TOAST, BUT ANY MIRACLES WOULD BE APPRECIATED. I KNOW WITH TODAYS SYSTEMS IT IS USUALLY MORE TO FIX THAN REPLACE AND WHEN YOU REPLACE YOU HOPEFULLY GET UPDATED TECHNOLOGY. ANY LAST THOUGHTS FOR REPAIR OR LAST WORDS INT MEMORY OF THE KOSS 2503 1 3/4 YEARS OLD.

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

I had this MSG 04 problem. Opened the KOSS KS2503 player up. Messed around. Figured out that the 5-disc tray was hanging up a little during the initialization.

The issue is that the tray screws into and rotates around a stand-up beam. On the underside of the tray are gear teeth which are spun by a gear on the main unit underneath. The real culprit is the stand-up beam in the very middle. It is too long.

The fix is to first try just tightening the middle black screw holding the tray onto the stand-up beam. If this tightens and MSG 04 goes away, you're done. If it does not tighten at all or much at all, then remove the screw (actually a bolt) and using a razor or sharp blade, scrape the top 1/4 millimeter off the stand-up beam. Apply some grease around the beam and on top.

Note, you may have to remove the tray to do all this. If so, that is the most tricky part. Carefully lift on the tray on the front side as you rotate it. Try to free a disc circle edge over the top of the front DVD cover and free the tray. To re-set the tray, put it on the stand up beam with the front side of the tray slanted up and slowly rotate while setting it in and down.

After re-seating the tray, screw the bolt down but do not tighten all the way. Tighten it enough to allow rotation and enough to rid the msg 04 problem.

I shaved my stand-up beam and have never seen a MSG 04 since.

Koss DVD player - won't read disc

Jill:

I know it may seem obvious and insulting to your integillence, but have you tried to reset? Unplug, cleaned disk, tried a new disk etc.. If that doesnt work keep the owners manual handy it might give you some troubleshooting tips.

In other news: A memorial service was held today for my KOSS KS2503. After repeated resets, troubleshooting it was not able to be recovered. The new leader of the home entertainment center is a YAMAHA 5930 XM ready receiver. The YAmaha 5930 is assisted in this task by a Toshiba SD-4980SU HDMI, PROGRESSIVE SCAN UPCONVERT/DOLBY/DIVX/CD /DVD PLAYER. Future enhancements call for a VIZIO 42" plasma HD widescreen TV with PCI INPUTS and 480I/480P/720P/1080I inputs. Anyone on this forum heard of VISIO or its products? They are available at COSTCO, and according to the sales rep are a SONY off brand. Anyone know any more?

RE: Koss DVD player - won't eject disc.

Thanks to cyrophil, my msg04 problem is fixed.

I didnt have to shave off the top of the beam.
Hints to others:
The screw to remove the lid of the unit are in the back (similar to a tower computer case) and 2 on each side.

RE: Koss DVD player -won't power up

I have a KS2503 5-disc DVD and it suddenly stopped working the other day. It won't power up for some reason. The red STANDBY light on the front comes on so I know there is power to the unit, but it won't come on and none of the buttons respond. If you press a button, the red standby light goes off, but that is it. It comes back on in a few seconds but I can't open it or get it to play. Any ideas or suggestions? Could it be the fuse that others have mentioned? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Linda, I have a KS3112-2, and I'm having the same problem as you. Mine is almost 2 years old though, so I guess I shouldn't complain. I did open it, and tested my fuse, but the fuse seems ok...no clue what it is then. If anyone figures this one out, I'd love to know!
