problem with IItronics IMP-11

Apologies if this has already been covered. This i regarding the problem where it seems you can only play 99 mp3s. It seems that you can get around this by creating directories on the player. As long as each directory has less than 100 files you should be o.k.

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

Write protect and memory...To remove write protect just move the hold button to the right hand position (as you are looking at it) This is also classed as the 'lock'. Best way to scrub the memory clean (ours said 80% full when it was empty) is to install the disk utilities (I have XP and it installed ok) and full-format the dam thing..works fine now. ;)..until the next time!

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

The problem is because the IMP 65 is not DRM compatible. This means that it wont play copyright protected music. Only IItronics players that have a D after their number are DRM compatible.

I emailed customer support at IItronics and they sent me a guide to DRM which I tried to email to you but the message failed.

There is a way round it. It's long winded and if any one knows an easier way please let me know.

Once you have downloaded your music you need to burn it onto a CD.

You then need to rip it back onto your media player. However before you do this you need to select tools from the tool bar, then select options. From here you need to select rip music.

You then need to deselect copy protect my music. Once you've ripped it back into media player you should then be able to sync it to your MP3.

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

ive had an IItronics 128 mp3 for about 8 months (not sure if it IMP11 or IMP65 or wat ever)

today i was using it to swap music files from my sisters pc to mine and then burning a playlist from them on to a cd , after so many songs i deleted the files using the mp3 player, i repeated filling up the mp3, however second time round deleting i used windows file viewer and highlighted all and pressed delete.

it appeared to have deleted but when i tried to put more songs on it only let me put about 4 on . i checked how much memory was used (after deleting the 4 songs) and it said %70 of the memory was used even though windows showed to files and when i tried to play songs it said no files on the mp3 player.

i dont have any software for it installed. i am thinking of formatting threw windows is this ok?

is there anything i can do?

PLEASE HELP

jamo

ps.sorry if i repeated a previous post in another part of forum

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-65

Matt, the problem is because the IMP 65 is not DRM compatible. This means it will not play copyright protected music. So this is anything you download (legally) from the internet or copy from a CD. I emailed customer support at iiTronics and there is a way round it. If you download music from the internet you need to copy it onto a disc before you transfer the files to your MP3. Before you do this you need to select tools from the menu bar on media player. Select options, then RIP. From there you need to deselect copy protect my music, then ok. If you use the CD you should then be able to transfer the music to your MP3. There is software that can also help but I haven't cracked that yet.

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

OK - Like so many people in this string, I loaded loads of music onto my brand new IMP-65 512MB (from Argos, UK) using My Computer in Windows XP. I put in the battery, plugged in the headphones, turned on ....... and got the message 'NO FILES'.

This is a very off-putting message - causes all kind of panic. I checked that the files were definitely there using My Computer, and I played some of them using Media Player on the computer. I also checked that they were not encrypted (hover the cursor over the file in My Computer and a dialogue box appears giving file information). So what goes on?

To resolve this issue, do the following.

1. Turn the IMP-65 on
2. Wait until the 'NO FILE' message shows
3. Press the M button - the main menu appears
4. Scroll backwards and forwards until you reach the 'Play Music' option
5. Press the M button - the display changes and shows the name of the file about to be played
6. Press the big round play/pause button once and enjoy cool sounds. Press it again to turn them off.

Note. If you still don't hear anything having got this far, just check that the track is actually playing. Look at the top line of the display - if you can see a black square symbol roughly in the middle of the top line, press the play button again. It should change from a black square to a black triangle (and the timer will begin to count up).

The moral of this story is - DON'T PANIC when you see the 'no files' message. Do exactly what it says in section 6 of the Quick Start Guide (follow the numbered steps 1 to 8 - all in section 6 at the top of the second page), but make sure to press M between steps 1 and 2. This is the instruction that is missing from both the Quick Start Guide and the User Manual

On page 4 of the User Manual under the heading 'GETTING READY', the final instruction reads 'The player turns on and displays the main menu'. This is WRONG - it should read:
* The player turns on and displays NO FILES
* Press the MODE button to display the main menu

My IMP-65 is working perfectly now - hope this helps you to get yours going too. (Note that this work around does not deal with the copyright protection issue - you still have to make sure the files that you try to play are not DRM protected)

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

yeah my friend tried to add songs to his imp-65 mp3 player, and he thought the reason the songs wouldn't play was because he was on ME. so he gives it to me to add songs to, i am on xp, and adding the mp3's or wma's still isnt working, it just says there is 'no files'. and when i tried Jim's way, it still didnt play, is just saying 'no files' anyone know how we can fix this? i know this imp-65 doesnt support licensed wma's, but the mp3's arent working either. please email me back if you know how to solve this. thanks

RE: problem with IItronics IMP-11

I bought a 1GB IItronics mp3 last week.I put music on it and listened to it, it seemed fine however it broke within two days - and i hadn't done anything to it!!. The next day i got it replaced. That day when i opened the packet i found that the mode button was broken. I took it back again the next and they replaced it again. I put music on the new one and it was working fine. However two days afterwards -TODAY! it broke once again. I'm really agnry now and have realised how rubbish the mp3's are. I can't get a refund because it was bought in the sale and all they do is replace it. I'm fed up now and if i can't get a refund i'll take blooming vouchers!!
I'd advise anyone now who wants to buy one - don't - it's a mistake i made and i feel completly conned.

Major problems - tried to download - manages to transfer one song but then freezes PC. Had to remove player + reboot. Player now turns itself off when music is selected and restarts itself!
The voice recorder still records + plays ok but why won't the player play music + why does it keep turning off?
