having problems with my internal sony crx220a1 52x 24x 52x cd-r/rw. Using nero software to burn songs. it burns to 100% and says is successful but i still find errors in some songs, while there are a few that doesn't even play at all. my comp has an 850MHz processor, 256 mb of ram, 80 gig hd with plenty of space. do you think i just need to update drivers? if so where can i find them......?????????????? |

Daaaamn I hate all this update shit....N E Way I just the same upgraded to windows 2000 n my sony crx175a1 also does not get recognized....it reads store bought cds but not my burned ones , it also dosent burn.....for those in trouble ive tried these few attempts but failed ...maybe they might werk 4 U! N E one who has a comcrap like me should download the softpak if available for your pc, also the bios update, and system rom update, also try the service pack 3 if u are only using serv pak 1 from the microsoft website. Like U im still searchin!!!!!!! |

i accidently deleted 2 sys files in windows/windows32/drivers directory and now i cant use and i cant see my cd rom anymore....its vanished...if i upgraded my mindow xp profesional still those 2 files are missing...but i dont want to delete all my files and again start over installing win xp pro...

I had problems with easy cd,and nero early versions. They would no support my gcr-8520b, 8521b. I recently installed iomagic dr-cdrw
4848. Nero 5510 their newest version supports all of my cd rom drives.

I've got a LG-gce8160b CD/RW, I have got the upgrade for the firmware from the page that makes it work in XP, as it told me to do I rebooted my PC so it could update the firmware, as it was doing this from the A:\ it said read error.
This has corrupted the writer altogether and has stop being recognised totally, can anyone help please? Thank you |

I have the same problem. I just bought a GRX-770 notebook w/factory installed XP. I installed 2000 on it and installed the 2000 driers but the CD-Writing functionality does not work, it will read CDs but isnt recognized as a Write capable driver. the model is SONY CRX 800E .. does anyone have this laptop with factory installed Win 2000? or have drivers? All I need is copies of your restoration CDs if you wanna help me out im sure I have a few dollars to throw your way. |

I have just bought a computer from a friend, and it came with a Sony CDR/RW drive unit that was not installed, he did have the drivers for it but as it turns out their the wrong ones. The CDR/RW is a Sony and the model number is CRX1611 (June 15,2001). Can you help me. |

For all you folks struggling with "Drivers" for CD devices, all you need is to install ASPI for windows XP. It is not installed as standard. These are the drivers you will most probably need.
You can get them at

i loaded winXP as a dual boot to my computer.... alll the CD drives were recognized until i put on some program a month ago... now, no CD drives are showing up at all... but i can burn to the CD drive with CDRwin... how do i get the drives to show up in winexplorer so i can access them?
p.s. i loaded all ASPI drivers and tried to find/ reload the drivers for the CD drives themselves... each time they would show up in the Device manager with the yellow exclamation mark and a pop-up saying: drivers are corrupt or missing for this device.
any knowledge concurrent with this problem would be greatly appreciated |

I bought a Sony CDRW 225 A. It didn't work either with WinOnCD 5 or with Nero 5.5. I found that it wasn't listed in the drive compatibility list of both softwares. I got Nero 6, who "knows" my drive, and now I can write ok. I still can't rip audio from cdda's and i have problems with creating cd images. I think this is an aspi problem, i'll try to update my drivers.
Anyway, with Nero 6 I can burn cds, so anyone having this problem should check Nero's homepage to see if his burner is on the compatibility list and download Nero 6. |
